"Typical wasp markings" - Brady upon noticing huge footprints.
A rocketship containing laboratory wasps is sent out of the Earth's atmosphere to test the
effects of cosmic rays on insects. The rocket malfunctions and crash lands in the Green
Hell of Africa from where stories emerge of giant wasps killing the natives. The
scientist's realise that the wasps in the rocket must have mutated into gigantic creatures
and fly to the African jungle to find them. After attempts to destroy the creatures fail,
a volcano errupts smothering the monster wasps with red hot lava.
A cheap monster film that manages to entertain with poor effects and an awful script. The
last colour reel of a volcano is somewhat of a surprise and seems to serve no other
purpose but to display the shoddy editing and lack of funds. The scene of a giant wasp
fighting a giant snake remains impressive.
Stock jungle footage was borrowed from STANLEY AND LIVINGSTONE (1939).

On an island off the coast of Mexico, several people disappear during the nights of the
full moon. Vacationing artist Julie Blair, (Kimball), and Steve, (Wade), a marine
biologist investigate and find that nuclear bomb tests have created a giant protozoa that
looks like a large octopus which feeds on the local population. The natives think the
creature is an ancient Aztec god, but Steve destroys it by ramming a submarine into it's
eye.
Although the cheapness shows, especially with the muffled studio sound dubbing, and the
monster is only seen for a very short time, this is notable as the first Corman
production. Made in 6 days for a mere $12,000 and sponsored in part by Aerojet General,
the manufacturers of the submarine used in the film.

A lighthouse keeper, (Harmon), off the coast of Piedras Blancas in California feeds a
seven foot high prehistoric monster, (Kevan), that lives in the caves below the lighthouse
because he fears that if he didn't, the creature may attack his daughter Lucy, (Carmen).
When the monster decides to embark on a murderous rampage, no one believes the lighthouse
keeper's story until several people's heads are ripped off. When Lucy is cornered in the
lighthouse by the monster she turns on the beacon that momentarily blinds it allowing her
boyfriend Fred, (Sullivan), to hit the monster on the head with his gun, causing the
creature to fall to it's death.
Unsubtle and laughable B-movie nonsense.
Jack Kevan salvaged the monster's massive claws from the costume he designed for The Mole People and the large feet made for the Metaluna Mutant
in This Island Earth. Kevan also created the creatures
appearing in It Came From Outer Space and Monster
on Campus.

his girl from her father when he changes into a glowing green mutant.
An engaging Lovecraft adaptation with some effective moments. Unfortunately Karloff shows
signs of the oncoming illness that ultimately lead to his death.

University professor, Dr. Donald Blake, (Franz), obtains a celeocanth fish that has been
preserved with gamma rays for his student laboratory, but as the creature thaws some of
the blood causes a dog, who licks it up, to turn into a savage prehistoric beast and a
dragonfly that settles on the fish carcass, mutates into a gigantic monster that attacks
the laboratory. The students, however, are being killed by a sinister neanderthal man who
is revealed to be the professor himself infected by the celeocanth after he cut himself on
it's tooth. As a primitive, Dr. Blake kills a forest ranger before setting himself up to
be shot by the police.
A cheap marvel. The effects are shoddy, but hugely entertaining in a better than average
B-movie.

Military detonation tests off the California coast unearth a colony of prehistoric sea
snails and their eggs. When the creatures are destroyed, Dr. Jess Rogers, (Conried),
places one of the surviving eggs in an incubator, but when a young girl, (Gibson), turns
up the heat the egg hatches and the resultant monster marauds to suck the body fluids from
it's victims. A race is on to stop the creature from laying eggs in the world's waterways.
Cornered, the monster is injured by steam from a vent and destroyed in a hail of bullets.
Although the cheapness shows the plot is intelligent without being hysterical and there
are some effective monsters.

EL MONSTRUO RESUSCITADO (1952)

A deformed plastic surgeon creates a brutish monster by putting an underdeveloped brain
into a revived corpse that then terrorises a reporter who lives at the doctor's home in
the cemetery.
A surprisingly atmospheric production.

Alien invader Odo Warnoff, (Rennie), from the dying planet Ummo, revives Earth's deceased

while a female alien named Maleva, (Dor), possesses the body of a scientist to try and
conquer the Earth. The aliens, however, fail to take into consideration the power of human
emotions and Maleva falls in love with Daninsky, who as a werewolf foils the invader's
plans by slaying the revived monsters, after which he is mercifully shot with a silver
bullet by his sweetheart Maleva as he tries to gnaw her to death.
A confused and unwatchable third entry to the Daninsky/werewolf series of films reportedly
made in six days.
Michael Rennie died in 1971.

creates headless and wingless chickens, but the chicken breeder eventually dies by falling
into a chicken food machine.
This strange film features mutant chickens, but despite this the film still flopped at the
box office.

A man framed for a crime and sent to jail escapes, but during his frantic run from the law
he walks into a colbalt bomb blast. This should have killed him, but instead it makes him
impervious to bullets allowing him to embark on a vengeful rampage, only to be burnt to
dust by a flamethrower.
Emphasis is given on the romantic development between the man and Paget's character.

A 300 foot catapillar living on Infant Island in the Pacific ocean is worshipped by the
natives and protected by two six inch high girl fairies, (Ito twins), but when Nelson, a
profiteering industrialist captures the two girls the islanders invoke the wrath of the
catapillar to journey to Rosilica and the city of Newkirk to rescue them. Most of Newkirk
is destroyed by the time that Mosura makes a cocoon in the city and the evil industrialist
is shot by the police. When Mosura hatches into a moth the twin fairies are taken to the
airport where Mosura flies away with on his back towards their island home.
An introduction to another silly Toho monster, this time, not an actor in a rubber suit.
Rosilica is meant to be America and Newkirk City looks very much like New York City.

An expedition led by John Banning, (Cushing), to Egypt discovers the tomb of the High
Priest Kharis, but as one of their number, (Aylmer), reads the Scroll Of Thoth, the mummy,
(Lee), comes to life driving him insane. The expedition returns to Victorian England where
a servant of the mummy named Mehemet, (Pastell), has brought Kharis to wreak vengance on
those who dared to desecrate his tomb. One expedition member is strangled by the mummy,
but when Kharis attempts to slay Banning, Kharis recognises that Banning's daughter,
Isobel, (Furneaux), is the reincarnation of his love of ancient Egypt, princess Ananka,
and for whom he was buried alive 3000 years ago for trying to resurrect her dead body with
the sacred Scroll of Thoth. Kharis carries the girl away towards a swamp to join him
death, but as they sink in the mire, the girl crawls to safety and Kharis dies, once again
alone.
An entertaining remake with a few changes to the original plot. The typical Hammer touches
are present, including a scene showing Kharis' tounge being cut out and some nice colour
photography. However, the film fails to capture the magical dusty essence of the 1932
version.THE MUMMY AND THE

In ancient Egypt, a tutor named Prem, (Owen), is entrusted to protect the young king
Kah-To-Bey, but they are both killed. 4000 years later, Hasmid, (Delgado), restores Prem's
mummy, (Powell), to life to avenge the desecration of his tomb and the removal of
Kah-To-Bey's mummy to Cairo by an expedition of archeologists. The mummy is eventually
destroyed when an arcane incantation reduces him to a pile of dust.
Despite the numerous mummy film cliches, the cast and the good production values make this
a satisfactory entry to Hammer's mummy series.

woman, (Hassell), and convince the drunken boyfriend, (Bryant), that he was responsible to
blackmail him and force him to stay at the house as their plaything. When he seduces one
of the psychos it causes discord and destroys the family harmony.
An extremely black comedy that includes axe murders and a scene involving a boiled head.

pushing him into a pit of snakes.
Also features good looking female vampires.

Herman Munster, (Gwynne), inherits an English title and a big estate from his English
uncle, but the English Munsters, led by Freddie, (Thomas), are intent on getting rid of
their American cousins as the family are running a counterfeiting organisation from the
estate. Several attempts are made on Herman's life during a road race, but he
inadvertantly wins in the Dragula Coffin car to uphold the Munster family honour. Herman,
Lilly, (DeCarlo), Grandpa, (Lewis), Eddie, (Patrick) and Marilyn, (Watson), foil the gang
of counterfeiters and return to America.
An entertaining film with the obvious failing of trying to pad out to feature length a
story that would have fared better as a 30 minute television episode. There are no new
developements to the characters or even a substantial plot.
Originally this was meant to be a television film, but it was released theatrically at the
last minute.

Some Union soldiers escape from their Confederate pursuers in a hot air balloon, but
become marooned on a strange island inhabited by gigantic plants and animals. Although
they encounter giant crabs, bees and birds, it always seems that someone is watching out
for their lives. They mysteriously discover things that they need in a trunk marked
"Nautilus" and realise their protector is the legendary Captain Nemo who owns
the island and has created the giant creatures while experimenting to end famine. Nemo
wants to save his work from pirates, but an erupting volcano destroys the island, Nemo and
his submarine, while the others escape in a pirate ship they raised from the bottom of the
sea by inflating their balloon.
A fantasy adventure for the whole family with some stylish direction, impressive monsters
and laughable underwater wetsuits.
